Next in this Fall’s Make It @ Your Library Series

The Paso Robles City Library invites the public to create a miniature Day of the Dead “shrine” on Saturday, Oct. 7, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Shrines will feature a “sugar” skull drawing, beads and sequins to represent flowers, and a heart (el Corazón) to symbolize love for the deceased. Participants are welcome to bring any other items under 1 inch to include.

Day of the Dead or Día de los Muertos, is a celebration in which family and friends gather to remember those who have passed away and to help support their spiritual journey by creating altars that include photos of loved ones, possessions that belonged to them, and some of their favorite foods, along with symbolic sugar skulls and marigolds.

Creative fun for the entire family

Come to the Library’s LEGO Build in the Story Room on Tuesday, October 10, from 4 to 5 p.m. and see if you’ve got what it takes to be a Master Builder. Each build will have a different theme and challenge to put your building abilities to the test. Those that complete the challenge will see their creations on display in the Library following the build.

More experienced knitters are welcome to bring their own projects. Join the fun on Saturday, Oct. 21, 10:30 to noon, in the Library Conference Room.
